We were proud to show following the selections at the 2010 Gatlinburg Screenfest Film Festival!

• Dr Robert F Thomas – Official Selection – 10 mins. (Documentary) A medical missionary changes and saves the lives of his patients in the Great Smoky Mountains including one very famous Tennessean.

•We Shoot Zombies with a Special Presentation of Lock(ed) In – Official Selection – 61 mins. (Documentary) A Knoxville high school theater class endeavors to make a film in lieu of a play production.

• A Little Christmas – Official Selection – 7 mins. (Drama) A family struggles with tough economic times on the verge of Christmas Eve.

• Seed of Doubt – Official Selection – 15 mins. (Drama) A chance encounter with a man from her past forces a woman to reconcile her longing for her glory days with her maternal instincts.

• The Suffering – Official Selection – 7 mins. (Drama) When a terminally ill man is released from prison, his victim’s father plans an unexpected visit.

• The Pioneer Doctor – Honorable Mention- 23 mins. (Drama) A mountain family tries to cope with the death of a child and the emotional fallout that follows.

• Flesh of My Flesh – Official Selection – 10 mins. (Horror) A young woman is hunted by a member of her cursed, cannibalistic family.

• #1 – Official Selection – 17 mins. (Comedy) In the world of local TV, an amoral has-been struggles to have a news magazine show.

• Case 2233-04 – Honorable Mention – 20 mins. (Thriller) A up-and-coming actor’s rise to fame is chronicled through the lens of a single paparazzi photographer.

• Road to Oblivion – Honorable Mention – 25 mins. (Horror) Two men try to survive and maintain hope in a post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world.

• The Dirty Guv’nahs: From the Basement to Bonnaroo – Official Selection – 22 mins. (Documentary) The story of a Knoxville band that documents their formation through the beginning of their success.

• The Ground Beneath Us – Official Selection – 29 mins. (Documentary) The detailing of what is being done in the Southeast to help preserve Native American history.

• More Than Most – Honorable Mention – 18 mins. (Documentary) The tale of a man that was the example of many Americans of the twentieth century, who despite being born poor died rich in love and friendships.
We were also proud to present the following events at our 2010 festival.

Opening Night Mixer
Opening night will be celebrated by a meet and greet at the restaurant and lounge on River Terrace property. Get to know filmmakers, actors, local business owners, and audience members by networking and making new friends. Feel free to bring business cards, fliers, or other promotional materials. Screenings will start immediately following.

Awards Ceremony
Cocktails and appetizers will be served as we honor the top three films of the festival as well as the Viewer’s Choice Award, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Highlights will include revisiting past winners, showcasing moments over the course of the weekend, and opening submissions for the 2011 festival.

Free Workshop
Courtesy of Talent Trek Agency, whose credits include such films as Dear John and The Blind Side as well as popular known series Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, and ER, along with hundred of other projects. Juanell Walker and Charlotte Dennison of Talent Trek will be on hand to discuss what agencies do, what they look for, and all about working in the industry across the Southeast.

Charity Screenings
The talented and successful filmmakers who took home prizes at the 2009 Gatlinburg Screenfest Film Festival have graciously allowed the use of the films for a free screening. We will be taking donations before and after this screening to give to the American Red Cross.

Film Festival Returns with Sights Set on Promoting Movie Industry in East Tennessee

The second annual Screenfest Film Festival is accepting submissions through December 31, 2009.  The film festival, which focuses on promoting the art of film, is to be held once again at the River Terrace Hotel and Convention Center in Gatlinburg, TN on March 26-28, 2010. The initial Screenfest Film Festival was a huge success that showcased seventeen films from around the country. For 2010 the Screenfest board of directors have worked diligently to make the festival even better.  The next festival will focus on the business of moviemaking.

• Barstool Cowboy – 90 mins. (Comedy) An unemployed cowboy who can’t find love vows to stay on a barstool for three months hoping to find his answers at the bottom of a beer bottle.

• Bell Witch Legend – 42 mins (Documentary) The ghost story of American Southern Folklore featuring a sinister spirit whose vengeance was inflicted on a Tennessee family.

• Boys of Summerville – 109 mins. (Comedy) A man who thought he had escaped his small town and father’s shadow is forced to return and confront his past and the friends he’d left behind.

• Finding Scotland: A Wee Adventure – 12 mins. (Animation) A unique tour of Scotland seen through the eyes of an adorable host who has lost her precious companion.

• Grateful Films – 83 mins. (Comedy) An independent filmmaker, rejected by everyone, falls in love with a mystery woman and gets drawn into a story as complex as one of his own films.

• In a Blink – 20 mins. (Drama) An alienated teen searches for redemption after her dangerous lifestyle crashes down around her.

• Leto – 29 mins. (Drama) The story of Mr. Leto, a motel assistant manager who watches the occupants pass him by and wishes for their lives instead of his own.

• Prism: The Stalking of Liz Townsend – 18 mins. (Suspense) The tale of a woman, Liz, who faces the turmoil of being stalked and the disbelief of the person who is supposed to help her through it.

• String Theory – 7 mins. (Drama) When a man falls into a trap, only a rare manuscript of an abstract mathematical theory and a distant memory of a children’s story are his means of escape.

• Visitation – 18 mins. (Sci-Fi) The story of a lonely farmer who struggles with the loss of his wife and the strange phenomena that has his daughter concerned for his health and safety.

• Euphoria – 9 mins. (Comedy) The world has finally found a fix to all of its problems, but were these problems ever meant to be completely erased?

• Days to Remember – 7 mins. (Drama) A powerful modern-day reimagining of The Diary of Anne Frank’s impact on today’s youth.

• Time to Pretend – 4 mins. (Musical) Two girls find themselves losing touch with reality after escaping to a glamorous world.
Honorable Mentions:
• Das Spandau Ballett – 20 mins. (Drama) A moving tale of historical fiction about a Jewish woman and the atrocities that human evil can perpetrate. (Film contains nudity)

• I Came to Nashville – 3 mins. (Documentary) A variety of people tell the story of why they came Nashville to seek their fortunes.

• Reluctant Evil – 128 mins. (Horror) An homage to zombie films and video games, Reluctant Evil follows the team sent to investigate the horrific outbreak in Possum City.
(Film contains graphic imagines, language, violence, and nudity)

• Spence Cove – 39 mins. (Horror) A weekend backpacking trip turns deadly when four teens venture to a place with sinister history and inhabitants.
